new beginnings. Time to go from old to new. Not always the new you thought you would meet.
Out and about in Santa Cruz, CA - Having the most amazing time out in nature capturing these fantastic vibrant souls. In their element, what a joy to capture this moment in time. All kinds of portraits for all kinds of people,
Love to use the natural surroundings of where I am. I fell in love with the red carpet - then came the outfits.
Loved having this sweet family into my studio. First there was the bump session, then the baby session and now the brothers and sisters, one and all. We had fun !
These first few months of life are so precious and the changes so rapid. This little man had such great expressions. Fun !
Part one - the Bump - I dreamt of an Ingres like painting that became the starting point for this pregnancy session. I wanted to create an opulent, lush setting for Shanna who looked amazing. Being a hairdresser she arrived looking stunning with hair and make-up perfectly camera ready.
We had a great time and made merry. Will be posting the Baby part soon.
Old visible under new. Old wins.
There is the quality, stone to last decades, covered by powdery paint. An object moved tells the story.
Look at what you wear. That is the daily art. Simple pleasure.
As part of First Friday Santa Cruz 5 artists were commissioned to capture an essence of what is happening in the art scene. I commissioned a special device to sit on my lens so that I could photograph in circular form - a peephole. Its a nod to many of the films I studied with Al Reece whilst at Maidstone College of Art in the History of Experimental Cinema. I was a filmmaker for many moons prior to committing to photography.
